June 3, 2021
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati has worked closely with the Governor’s Office and health experts throughout these past months. Catholic churches have been very successful in keeping open for Masses while keeping people safe. Our parish has tried to be diligent in regard to the recommendations set forth.
As of this Sunday, June 6, the mask mandate is lifted. Our church will still have some pews marked for social distancing. Even without the masks required, some of us will still feel more secure wearing a mask. Those who are not vaccinated should especially still want to be cautious. We should all be aware that our children are not yet vaccinated. Let’s be respectful of all people.
Our Eucharistic Ministers will still use hand sanitizer and I will encourage our ministers to still wear a mask when distributing. For the foreseeable future, there will be no drinking from the chalice. For a few weeks, yet, the sign of peace will still be careful.
We know there are still people who cannot safely come to church. The Sunday obligation has all kinds of exceptions, so people should be fine with returning to Mass when they feel confident that they are not putting themselves or loved ones in a compromised position.
“Together again!” We can continue to experience the satisfaction of celebrating the Eucharist as a community.
